Bird, tow truck, fire truck

Elizabeth and I were downstairs while A played this morning.  He randomly decided he'd put the bird in the tow truck (that is a part of the car transporter), put the tow truck on the steering wheel of the firetruck, and then stand back and look at it.

Then this afternoon we hung some book shelves and pictures in Attison's big kid room (which he won't move into for a few months).

And last but not least, we had the sleepy haha's before nap time and got lots of cute giggles before snuggling up for a nap.

Baby watch 2014

Today, Attison is still an only child.

Here are 10 facts about baby watch 2014, because we've kind of been keeping you in the dark.

1. The due date is set for the end of February.  I, for very specific reasons, believe that to be inaccurate and think the due date is a bit sooner. Either way, we are officially "in the window" (39-42 gestational weeks) to deliver full term any day.

2. We are also eligible for delivery at the midwife center since both baby and mama are healthy.

3. We've had 2 false starts.  That's right, t-w-o. Long, strong, consistent contractions that were painful, woke me up from sleep each time. Then....nothing. Slowed down, decreased in intensity and no baby.

3b. This past Saturday night we actually went into the midwife center for a few hours and they confirmed that I was indeed in labor, but since it wasn't progressing I should go home and rest for a bit.  So we did...and labor itself went on hiatus.

4.  I've been having "Braxton Hicks" contractions for weeks. I've been getting groped by waitresses for weeks. I'm sooooo pregnant.  Some people let me cut in line for fear that my water might break on their groceries.  The next person to assure me I'm having twins is getting punched in the uterus.

5. We have our bags packed, car seat in the car, insanely detailed instructions on how to spend a day with Attison, as well as all of his emergency information and back up emergency information in the event that while giving birth Tim and I both also fall of the face of the earth.

6. We have a skilled and loving team of 5 faux "aunts and uncles" who will babysit and/or sleepover with A until Grandma Linda gets here from McCbg to take over. (We've already had 2 semi-practice runs at this, and it worked like a charm both times.)

7. I can't tell you how many people have said "So when are you due?' and when I reply "Oh, any day now." They say "No, when are you DUE?" like it is a scheduled kitchen cabinet delivery (which happens to be Thursday from 8 am-2 pm.)

8. For all intents and purposes, I am fine. I am resting, but I am also continuing to do things, but not paint from a ladder, because, well, I can't reach (or see) the paint.  I did paint Attison's room this week though, with a roller. Yes, we used paint with low VOC and the room was well ventilated.  Simply because those are intelligent things to do for all people, not just those of us who are 9 months pregnant.  Plus now it looks like an actual room with 4 walls, not half a room that someone built a wall down the middle of and threw up a volcano of cleaning supplies into.

9. Yes we have a name.  No we aren't telling you.  We are pretty sure that you'll think it is lovely.

10.  This baby is big.  At 33 weeks an ultrasound estimated him to be 7# 2 oz. At 38 weeks another ultrasound estimated him to be 8# 10 oz. (We had 2 ultrasounds recently to make sure the baby was big and healthy and there weren't other complications.  Just a big healthy baby. Did I mention he is big??)

I don't have a picture of A and I, since I'm almost always the one behind the camera. But here is a picture of me, demonstrating to Tim why I wasn't painting the laundry room, even though I would really like it to be finished.

I'm only on the 2nd step of a 4' step ladder, and I'm holding on tight.  Have no fear, we're safe.
Pose for demonstration purposes only.

I took 2 short videos and made one long video with a wicked transition in the middle.  Oh the wonders of the internets.

St Anthony

A opened his cabinet door this morning and pulled out his St Anthony prayer card.  I'm not sure how it got there, but I used to keep this prayer card in my kitchen for all of the stupid times I lost my wallet/keys/phone.  Remarkably, the prayer to St Anthony has worked for me on numerous occasions, especially when my wallet/keys/phone were in absurd location (like the one time my wallet was out on the grill with the house phone.)

A didn't really even play with the kitchen this morning, he just opened the cupboard, said some gibberish at the card, put it back in and went to play with his stacking cups.

If you have something you have lost and need some help, here is the prayer to St Anthony.  You can implore him to ask Jesus to help you find it.

O holy St. Anthony, gentlest of saints, your love for God and charity for his creatures made you worthy while on earth to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me the favor I seek in this novena (State your intention). The answer to my prayer may require a miracle; even so, you are the saint of miracles. O gentle and loving Saint Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms, and thee gratitude of my heart will always be yours.

And if that doesn't work, try calming manatee. *

*Note, these two options are not the same.  One is a religion practiced by millions for centuries, the other is a meme with cute pictures of an ocean dwelling animal and some encouraging phrases.

Ball pit fresh from the yard.

This was the first a d very temporary location for our indoor ball pit. There was no containment for the balls and that is why we moved it to the corner of the kitchen.

Jenny escaped out the front door while I tried to bring in the turtle. Of course it didn't fit and I dumped all the balls into the vestibule. A must have seen me use the snow shovel to get them all in the house which is why he was using it in the video from earlier this week. I swung the shovel at Jenny as she shoved past me and leapt over the balls to the porch. I'm not sure why, hitting her with a shovel wouldn't have stopped her or helped her to make better life decisions. Neighbor Bob brought her home awhile later. (8 no this pregnant, 12° outside, 15 mo. old baby and a car covered in ice, heck no was I interested in or able to chase her. No signs of dead squirrels have been reported since her adventure.

That paragraph was very stream of consciousness. I'm kind of distracted as I type. Anyhoo... here are some pics.
