Conversations with Attison

(Baby D is crying.)
S: Morning buddy!
A: Night shoe off!
S: Oh look, your night shoe. Do you want to put it back on?
A: Night shoe! Night shoe!
S: Ok let's take it downstairs, Baby D needs us.
A: Oh yeah, Baby D sad. Bye!
Night shoes are slippers. He wears them to bed sometimes. One pair is like big socks with grippy bottoms, the other pair is slippers with soles.
Akso, A is only allowed to use his binkey in his crib, so when he gets up we ask him to say bye to the binks. He used to take it out reluctantly, now he tosses it in and shouts "bye bye binks!"

S: Which spoon would you like? *holds up 3 spoons*
A: Orange! *grabs orange spoon*

S: How was your breakfast?
A: good
S: good?
A: oh yeah.
S: *laughs* That good, huh?
A: Watch Elmo Abby Daba peas?
Watch Elmo peas?
Peas?
Mama?
Elmo?

A playing in his night shoes.
D watching A play.

Fall is here

Now that fall has come we are realizing the days of playing outside will end. So we are back out on the porch, this time without the swimming pool.

Ralph and Duke are working on our windows, bricking up the outsides. I left the boys on the porch to do a few dishes and came back to Attison and a dump truck full of bricks. Literally. He is so strong. I'm on the porch now. No more leaving him alone, even for a minute, on this porch.

We are having new brick sills laid instead of wood. Eventually we will replace all crappy, rotted wood sills with brick. We will have tons of extra.

In the picture you can see the back of the interior course of brick which essentially is the middle of the wall. Right below the window you can see the spray foam insulation and framing below the window. On the inside that is all covered with drywall.

We are curious to see how our heating bill adds up this year. It will be the first year with new insulation and a new heater. Also the first year we are on our own paying the bills...no roommates to split it with.

Good morning

Attison is up and ready to go bright and early.  He insisted on "soos an socks" . After getting dressed,  I asked him to wait in his room to play with trains while I got my own shoes and socks.  Came back to this.

Boom ba

Boom-ba (noun)
The act of falling or jumping, typically from a vertical or crouched position to a horizontal position. Energetic boom bas include shouting (incoherently or the word boom ba) and raising both hands above your head.
If beginning from the crouching position, counting down to the boom ba is important. Counting currently is as follows: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, BOOM BA! Alternatively,  counting sometimes goes: 1, 2, fffffrrrrrreeeeeee, shiiiiiiiiiitttt!
Boom ba onto Baby D is not allowed and will land the perpetrator in a time out on the steps followed by a sincere apology. A sincere apology is described as being given directly to the Baby D with a hug, kiss, or a misinterpreted sign language apology (a gentle belly rub). An insincere apology is anything that is shouted while running or said while climbing up the steps in an attempt to escape time out.
Boom ba with food in your mouth is not allowed.
Boom ba from the couch to the floor is discouraged.
Boom ba towards an object that will not cause unconsciousness is allowed, with the hopes that an unpleasant ending to the boom ba may end the boom ba phase once and for all.
Warning: after a few boom bas any adult that attended middle and high school in the 90's may find themselves singing "Mr. Boombastic, very fantastic" constantly.

Porchin it

We traced A on the porch. He declared that he was the white one, Da the green and Ralph the blue. Ralph has been working on the brickwork around our windows and A walks around saying "Nice job Ralph!"

Thomas (a.k.a. Percy) shirt

A has really been into Thomas and Friends lately. We only watch about 30 minutes of tv every other day or so, so we are constantly surprised at how much he loves Thomas. We found this Thomas the train t-shirt at a yard sale. It is a 4T (he is wearing 2T) but he insisted on wearing it over his long sleeved shirt to bed the other night. Then he got a burst of energy, as you can see below.

He likes saying Percy, who is Thomas' best friend. In the video he says it is Percy on his shirt. Percy is green, Thomas is blue. We've already purchased Thomas and Percy trains for him for his birthday and every day fight the fight not to give them to him early because we know he will be really excited. It is hard to believe he will soon be 2!

I ate a thing and got some boots

Last night at 11 pm Attison woke up screaming and choking. We did some back blows, freaked out, jumped in the car and tore up to the ER silently crying and reassuring A the whole way. When we got there he had apparently already swallowed "the thing," however, it took us until 4:30 am to get the all clear from the doctor to go home. The ER at Children's has tons of cool stuff (fish tanks, bubble walls, iPads, tv's, interactive touch screen computers, books, etc.) so both boys were wide awake and entertained all night long.
Here is a picture of A's insides. (Talk about privacy violation....)  You can see "the thing" in his belly, right below his spine. You can also see how congested his lungs were, which happened to be unrelated to "the thing."

I sifted through his poop all weekend and on Tuesday the 23rd we had a 2nd x-ray that said "the thing" was gone, even though we never found it in his poop. Tim thinks it might have been play-doh. Who knows what it actually was.

Saturday we had plans to go to a neighborhod wide yardsale with Christine and Matt. We canceled on them at 6:30 when I woke up to nurse D. Then A woke up at 8 and D again at 8:30. By 9 they were both awake and partying and we were all up for the day. So we went yardsaling after all.

Of course A was in a horrible mood, having been awake from 11 pm - 5 am at the hospital playing with iPads and getting stickers. We got him stuff from every FREE box we encountered (cat toys, ping pong balls, books that were torn).  We also bought him some Spiderman rain boots, which he now is in love with. Here he is playing with some dirt and ladders in the back yard wearing his new boots.

(This post was written in the future and posted back on the day it happened, so I know what happened in the end. Sorry if you were confused whilst reading.)

Adults

Nicole came to visit from Orlando so we hired a sitter and went to see the Buccos!
Clearly we are a very mature group of humans.

Playing for serious

Today A and D played in A's room while I worked for a bit.

Then we played with our friend R while her parents went to a memorial service. R and A jumped on the couch for a bit and then both laid down to rest. R kicked A a few times and he said "stop." We've been learning what stop means because A likes to kick while getting his diaper changed. I was glad R was kicking because now A knows why kicking is not fun. Also, I know he fully understands what I mean when I say stop kicking so he won't get off so easily next time...

We were really happy to play with friends. Last night we went to dinner at a friend's house and the whole way there A said "friends house friends house" except when he saw a orange bus and said "school bus!" We didn't try to explain that it was actually an orange city bus not a yellow school bus.

Mr. Animated

Baby D always smiles. He laughs a lot. He has dimples as deep as craters.

He also sits up now....sits up on his own and rolls over or lays down without slamming his head off the ground.

Attison Danger Raufer

A climbs up the metal webbed jungle gym made for twelve year olds. And rather quickly.

Sitting

D gets better at sitting up.

Shopping cart!

D rode in his first shopping cart today. Then he passed out on the family room floor playing with toys.
