Resting and jam

This week we all got sick in one way or another and on one day and all of the others.

Baby D never really got sick. But he is always kind of congested. A was too at that age.
Here he shows us how he feels about everyone else being sick.

Of course I went and picked 35# of strawberries and made jam.  It's only strawberry season once a year and now that I have the secret family recipe I stock my own freezer!
(Although truth be told, I still experiment and stray from the instructions...it has not yet worked in my favor.)

strawberry picking and a petting zoo

Grandma took the boys to play while Christine and I picked lots of berries.

There was a petting zoo.
The "zoo" had ducks. Attison followed the ducks.
The ducks found a stream.  Attison followed the stream.
The stream had mud. Attison played in the mud.

Grandma in the park

We had an unexpected last minute visit from Grandma and she met us in the park.
(It wasn't really that last minute, we just happened to be in the park when she got here.)

With 2 adults Jenny is allowed to come to the park too.

in the park 2

We live on a street that dead ends into this park. It is pretty small, but pretty awesome, considering our back yard is still a construction zone.

It has this whale that one of our neighbors painted this spring, after it was just a boring concrete whale for many, many years.

My next goal is to paint the railings around the water area, you know, in all my spare time.

The metal tube thing at the bottom left shoots water out like a sprinkler, but the pressure is kind of crapola this year.  It used to shoot a lot higher.

One of these evenings I'm going to take Jenny the dog there when there aren't any kids around (which isn't often) and give her a bath. Or at least dump a bunch of water on her and let her run around until she gets dry.
