Last night at 11 pm Attison woke up screaming and choking. We did some back blows, freaked out, jumped in the car and tore up to the ER silently crying and reassuring A the whole way. When we got there he had apparently already swallowed "the thing," however, it took us until 4:30 am to get the all clear from the doctor to go home. The ER at Children's has tons of cool stuff (fish tanks, bubble walls, iPads, tv's, interactive touch screen computers, books, etc.) so both boys were wide awake and entertained all night long.
Here is a picture of A's insides. (Talk about privacy violation....) You can see "the thing" in his belly, right below his spine. You can also see how congested his lungs were, which happened to be unrelated to "the thing."
I sifted through his poop all weekend and on Tuesday the 23rd we had a 2nd x-ray that said "the thing" was gone, even though we never found it in his poop. Tim thinks it might have been play-doh. Who knows what it actually was.
Saturday we had plans to go to a neighborhod wide yardsale with Christine and Matt. We canceled on them at 6:30 when I woke up to nurse D. Then A woke up at 8 and D again at 8:30. By 9 they were both awake and partying and we were all up for the day. So we went yardsaling after all.
Of course A was in a horrible mood, having been awake from 11 pm - 5 am at the hospital playing with iPads and getting stickers. We got him stuff from every FREE box we encountered (cat toys, ping pong balls, books that were torn). We also bought him some Spiderman rain boots, which he now is in love with. Here he is playing with some dirt and ladders in the back yard wearing his new boots.
(This post was written in the future and posted back on the day it happened, so I know what happened in the end. Sorry if you were confused whilst reading.)
finley recently ate a penny. we also sifted through poop, never found the penny and x-rays showed it was gone a few days later. what a gross job...
ReplyDeleteglad A is ok, and got new awesome boots :)
Children never need to go to the ER at a reasonable hour. Glad to hear he is ok :-)
