We have said it many times today, and we will say it many more times I'm sure: We could not have found better caregivers than the Midwifes and Nurses at the The Midwife Center for Birth and Women's Health.
Our Nurse was Diana, who can be seen here on their website.
Our Midwife was Aoife.
I can not speak highly enough of these women, or this organization as a whole. I would encourage anyone in Pittsburgh to consider the Midwife Center for their pregnancy care and delivery.
Tonight Diana came to our house for about an hour and a half to check in on Steph and Attison. Our insurance covers a second home visit, which is nice, and will happen early next week. Since midwifes are not pediatricians, we have our first pediatrician appointment tomorrow morning.
Towards the end of labor, there was a newly hired nurse (who had worked in other delivery units), Chrissy who assisted, and she was great too. After the birth, Diana's shift ended, and Shannon took over to help us with the post-delivery checkups and cleanup. From the time we arrived, to the time we left, there was a nurse and/or midwife with Steph almost continuously, and their presence was the single largest calming factor in the whole process.
Here's a picture of Aoife with Attison, and Steph's omelette in the background.
And here's Shannon and Chrissy checking his temp.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you.
Diana said that in the hospital, they do the hearing check in the nursery, so it is something that most people never get to see. Ma was able to hold sleeping Attison while we checked his hearing.
